Dan Walechuk - Bio |
|
Dan Walechuk writes screenplays in his small North End home, where he dreams of being able to use his leaky fountain pen and the words from his heart to feed himself. He is the artistic director of the Winnipeg Puppet Slam and creator of the Wishwewere Puppets. He is the author of the underground cult classic feature film Geeksters. He is the creator and head writer of the ambitious No-Budget Show, a genre defying half hour internet series that features an all Canadian cast of actors and musical guests. He was the writing intern on the show Falcon Beach, where he learned how to finely craft stories for television and find excuses for characters to wear bathing suits. He co-wrote the environmentally friendly Green Ape Video Blog starring Last Comic Standing finalist Mel Silverback and pitched a series with Dan Licoppe at the Gimli Film Festival. Dan has made several short films and animations including Barbear which he was commissioned to make for the Winnipeg Cinematheque's 25th anniversary. As a redhead, he can't stay in the sun too long without burning, so he must stay inside where he spins yarns on his antique Underwood typewriter.
